Upstanding sable and white male, well up to size and having a presence that shouts 'Collie' from the roof tops!
Although larger than average he is beautifully balanced with superb length of upper arm, so rare to find in our modern day collies, which together with his correct angulations gives him a superb front. Long arched neck, strong level back, well boned legs, oval rib and correct croup, the overall picture being finished off by a lovely long tail and tight feet. Head handles beautifully and ticks all my boxes. I especially love the length and cleanness, absolutely no flare through the cheeks and skull and so wonderfully molded with a good depth of chin. OK..not the stop that is presently fashionable here in the UK, this chap has the correct slight but perceptible stop enabling the head to retain its elegance and dignity. I love his kind, intelligent and dignified expression coming from the combination of correctly sized and placed eyes and neat well placed ears.
With maturity I believe this boy will become a truly 'great' collie. When his body lets down into his frame and his skull reaches maturity, he promises to be very close to my ideal picture of a Rough Collie male. On the move he floats showing off a long stride that is totally effortless, what more can I add to this picture in words of a super young rough collie gentleman, I congratulate his breeder.

This is the honest and humble accounts of Can. Ch. Van M That's The Ticket (Atsa).

In the spring of 2005 I was given a dog by the Van-M kennels with full breeding rights.  I was told that Atsa had a hip injury and when I questioned it they reassured me that it WAS NOT Hip Dysplasia.  I was given a document from OFA, which I later found out had been doctored.  Without having all the facts I bred Atsa to Van-M Take A Gander (Gander) who was certified as OFA Fair.  Now I don't think I have to school everyone on the genetics of HD, we can all agree that it takes a combination of genes to produce this problem.  If the equation was so simple we should be able to breed excellent to excellent and get excellent but this scenario never pans out.  Unless someone scores hips for many generations you will know that this is true.

In the spring of 2005 when I bred Atsa to Gander eight puppies was the result.  All of the offspring was hip scored, and to make this a lot simpler for everyone I will just list the dogs that failed:  Glasgowhill's Rave Review; Glasgowhill's Ticket Master; Glasgowhill's Mr. Irresistible (borderline, need original Penn Hip).

On January 13, 2006 Atsa sired his second litter, bred to BPIS Can Ch. Glasgowhill's Missundaztood,  which resulted in seven puppies.  All were put in pet homes and none hip scored.

On July 21, 2006 Atsa was bred to Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's Sweet Temptation for his third litter, which resulted in nine puppies.  Of these nine, three were hip scored and the rest put in pet homes.  The results of those scores were:  Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's Can You Dig It - Failed; Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's Ready Set Go - passed; and Glasghowhill's Sunlit Dune - passed.

Atsa was placed after his third litter for his retirement.

Now we will discuss Atsa's progeny that went on to produce litters.

Glasgowhill's Rave Review (Ravin) produced Glasgowhill's So Much More (Maggie) who failed.
Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's Be A Rockstar produced Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's Embossed (Tessa) who failed.
Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's Winning Ticket (Jackpot) who was OVC Pass Hip Score, sired a litter which produced Glasgowhill's I Am Sparta who failed.  This was a puppy back from a bitch that was hip scored OFA Good.

All of the above dogs related to Atsa all failed on the same hip, and this is the point we are trying to make.  We are not trying to deal only in the negatives because a lot of his progeny have passed their hip scoring, but want everyone to realize that you must be diligent in your scoring because 'one bad apple' can upset the apple cart as Atsa did in my breeding program.  You cannot breed away from HD if you do not have all the facts or screening done.  I have always been in the forefront of divulging whatever problems arise in my breeding program.  And because of my honesty I have been knocked down, shunned, disrespected, lied about, and tossed aside.  Fortunately this just made me a stronger person and more adamant about testing my dogs.  I don't need somebody to school me on how to or how not to breed away from something.  Early screening is the key to avoiding and eliminating those dogs from the gene pool.  It may be costly to prelim then redo hips for the certificate, but by not screening prior to breeding is not helping to lessen the propensity of HD.  I really take my hat off to Angela Harvey who is finally hip scoring Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's With Pride and Can. Ch. Glasgowhill's Future Vision.  My only question now is have any of the bitches that have already been bred to these boys been hip scored.  And I can answer that question without hesitation....the answer is no.  How can someone preach about HD and how to avoid it when they don't screen for it.  HD is a two way street and it takes two to tango.  Just getting one of a breeding pair scored will not avoid the situation.

Atsa is still alive at the age of 14, is healthy except for the fact that he has Hip Dysplaysia.
